Are you someone interested in eliminating the stigma associated with substance use and substance use disorder and to contributing to the well-being of Canadians? CAPSA is currently seeking applicants to fill three (3) vacancies on its board of directors. Whether you are an ally or a person with lived or living experience with substance use disorders, we are interested in connecting with you.
About CAPSA
CAPSA, a not-for-profit organization, is a national leader on the principle of Substance Use Health, the impact of stigma on individuals who use substances, or have a substance use disorder, and on identifying and correcting instances of systemic stigma in the workplace and in communities across Canada. CAPSA’s direct contact approach serves to reduce stigma in the workplace and to create an environment where those struggling with substances can ask for help without fear of discrimination. CAPSA employs an All People, All Pathways TM philosophy to Substance Use Health, welcoming people regardless of background and substance use history and to supporting them on the path to wellness. Through community-based initiatives, CAPSA strives to create an environment where allies can stand beside those living with a substance use disorder and work together to improve health outcomes.
CAPSA’s Board is committed to continuously improving its equity, diversity and inclusion practices and to building its anti-racist skills and effectiveness. While it is on the right path, the Board acknowledges that it is at the beginning of this journey.

Those who identify as having direct experience are not required to share that information outside of the nominating process. In addition, diverse and/or bilingual candidates with the skills currently needed, will receive priority consideration.
We are looking for candidates with skills in the following areas:
- Legal
- Finance
- Government relations
- Executive leadership
